The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated, during an electoral meeting, that former American President Bill Clinton allegedly requested Hungary to open a second front against Serbia during the Kosovo war. Orban claimed that during his first term, he refused this request, emphasizing the importance of being able to say 'no' in the face of war. He explained that he inquired about the fate of the 300,000 Hungarians in Vojvodina and warned that attacks could lead to the destruction of Hungarian cities.

Although Orban claims to have had a direct conversation with Clinton, experts have pointed out that his statements contradict known facts about NATO's intervention in Serbia. Hungary is preparing for parliamentary elections on April 12, 2026, with polls indicating a tight competition between Fidesz and the opposition.
