The city of Venice has started selling €5 entry tickets for day-trippers to discourage crowds.

The entrance fee applies for 29 days from April 25 to July 14 to discourage day-visitors who contribute to overcrowding. The ticket purchase website has been opened in English and Italian. The project aims to protect the fragile city and regulate visitor access.
