The Turkish Minister of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that Delcy Rodriguez, the Venezuelan leader, accepted the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for a meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon at the Dolmabahçe Palace. Relations between Turkey and Venezuela have strengthened in recent years, with Erdogan maintaining close ties with former leader Hugo Chavez and his successor, Nicolas Maduro.

Cooperation between the two countries has materialized through the signing of several agreements in areas such as defense, energy, tourism, and agriculture. Venezuela, despite holding the largest oil reserves in the world, faces production issues due to corruption, insufficient investments, and the embargo imposed by the U.S. in 2019. After taking over the interim leadership, Rodriguez initiated reforms to revitalize the country's oil industry.
