American President Donald Trump announced Wednesday at the end of the NATO summit in Ankara, during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, that the U.S. will grant Ukraine licenses for Patriot systems, reports CNN.
Trump stated that he will discuss with the Ukrainian president plans to provide Ukraine with the capability to manufacture its own Patriot missile defense systems.
"Therefore, I believe that one of the topics we will address concerns - as you know - the companies; we have a major influence over the companies, those that produce the Patriot systems and all that excellent equipment, the Tomahawk missiles and everything top-notch," said the American president during a bilateral meeting with Zelensky.
"We will grant you the license to manufacture them; it's really great. Thus, you will no longer be able to complain that we are not supplying them to you," he continued. "I believe they can manufacture them quite quickly," he added.
We remind that the Ukrainian president has repeatedly asked allies to send Patriot systems.
