U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that fluctuations in the stock markets will not affect Washington's position in trade negotiations with China. In an interview with CNBC, he emphasized that the United States will continue to take firm measures against Beijing, regardless of market declines. Bessent dismissed speculation that Beijing was counting on a collapse of the American markets to force President Trump to concede, calling these claims "complete disinformation." American markets have experienced recent fluctuations due to trade tensions, and Bessent mentioned that, although Trump values a strong stock market, the success of the markets is due to solid economic policies, including investments in infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
