The Supreme Court's decision was adopted with the support of six conservative justices and three progressives voting against. Christian and Muslim parents in Maryland have challenged a policy that requires children to attend classes reading books about gender identity. They argued the measure infringes on their religious freedom, guaranteed by the First Amendment. The Justice Department, under Donald Trump's leadership, has supported the parents' move as part of a broader policy to combat progressive ideologies.
