The proposed sanctions would prohibit the battalion and its members from receiving US military assistance or training under the 1997 Leahy Law. The measures come after reports of abuses against Palestinians. Netanyahu and Gantz have criticized the possible sanctions as unjustified. The Netzah Yehuda unit is known for recruiting radical settlers and has been involved in controversial incidents.
