Negotiations between the US and China, led by senior officials, are taking place to maintain the trade truce agreed in Geneva. President Trump has expressed optimism, while China wants to normalize relations with Washington. The talks come after an escalation of tensions and accusations of deal-breaking. Beijing is also seeking to improve trade relations with other countries, including Japan, South Korea and Canada, as part of a broader strategy to diversify trade partnerships.
