Bessent said that while he is in the finalization stage of negotiations, he has not yet discussed the deal with President Trump. Meanwhile, the two countries have reached a trade truce after imposing reciprocal tariffs. The deadline for finalizing the deal is August 12, and the US is concerned about Chinese purchases of Iranian oil and technology supplies to Russia.
