She emphasized the importance of controlling European borders and called for strengthening it, mentioning the need for close coordination between authorities. Her comments come in the context of leaders from 22 EU member countries calling for urgent discussions on this issue. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior confirmed that almost all migrants have left Ceuta, and the situation has returned to normal. Von der Leyen stressed that combating illegal migration requires solidarity and a unified response at the European level.
