According to UNICEF, at least 70 Palestinian children have been killed in the occupied Palestinian territories since the beginning of 2025, equivalent to an average of one child killed each week.
The organization's data shows that 93% of the victims lost their lives as a result of actions by Israeli forces, while the rest were in attacks by settlers or in accidental incidents. Additionally, approximately 850 children have been injured, most through the use of military munitions.
UNICEF spokesperson James Elder stated that settler attacks have reached unprecedented levels, with March 2026 recording the highest number of injured children and a broader coordination of these actions. The organization also highlights the increase in the number of Palestinian minors in Israeli military detention, where 347 children are currently incarcerated, the highest level in the last eight years.
The UN and most countries consider Israeli settlements in the West Bank to be illegal, a position rejected by Israeli authorities.
