A 26-year-old Ukrainian man was caught in Italy after living for 6 years with false Romanian documents to avoid conscription into the army.

A 26-year-old Ukrainian man, known by the false name of Sergiu Volzian, was discovered in Italy after being involved in a minor accident on the A4 highway. The young man fled Ukraine to avoid being sent to the front and managed to build a life in Bergamo, having false Romanian documents, including a driver's license and a work contract.
The discovery of his identity occurred following checks carried out by the police after the accident. Although he had previously been involved in incidents related to false documents, the young man received a suspended sentence of 16 months in prison and will not be required to return to Ukraine. He explained that he did not want to serve in the army and risk being sent to the front.
