Ukrainian MP Kira Rudik told Sky News that US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin are the two leaders calling for Ukraine to have a new president. The statement comes after Trump suggested that Volodymyr Zelensky should be replaced, amid efforts to end the war with Russia.
“There are, in fact, two leaders in the world calling for Ukraine to have a new president: the first is President Trump, and the second is the dictator Putin,” Rudik said. The MP emphasized that choosing the president is the prerogative of the Ukrainian people and that the authorities in Kyiv are acting in accordance with the country’s Constitution.
Rudik said she shares Zelensky’s and the Ukrainians’ dissatisfaction with the American agreement on purchasing diesel fuel from Russia. In her view, the purpose of the agreement is to exert pressure on Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.
