Ukraine is considering transporting grain by rail through Moldova as a safer export option than maritime transport and has requested reduced tariffs for freight transport from the authorities in Chişinău, sources from both countries told Reuters on Monday.
The need for a railway route has arisen in the context of Russian attacks on the port hub of Odesa.
Sources from Ukraine and Moldova stated that Kyiv would now like to transport grain through Moldova to the Romanian port of Constanţa, with a 50% reduction compared to the nominal tariff.
