Ukraine sent the United States an updated version of its peace plan to end the war with Russia on Wednesday, according to Ukrainian officials. Among the proposals discussed is Ukraine's accession to the European Union starting in 2027, which raises concerns among some EU member states. It was also proposed to create a demilitarized zone along the ceasefire line, banning heavy weapons in a deeper area, monitored similarly to the zone between North Korea and South Korea. Other proposals include transferring the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant under U.S. control. The initial plan stipulated that Ukraine would constitutionally commit not to join NATO, while having the right to become a member of the EU. Nuclear power plants will be monitored by the IAEA, and electricity will be shared between Russia and Ukraine.
