Ukraine's parliament has passed a law restoring the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), following massive protests against the weakening of anti-corruption authorities. President Zelenski promulgated the law, stressing the importance of fighting corruption for Ukraine's EU candidacy. Despite the tensions, the adoption of the law was greeted with applause by protesters and European officials welcomed the re-enforced measures.
