The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority has announced the reopening of the Bastroe canal, which links the Danube to the Black Sea, closed after an explosion on a dredger in July. Ukraine uses the canal to transport grain, given restrictions on access to Black Sea ports. Navigation is now allowed for vessels up to 4.5 meters in draught, with compulsory pilotage and during daylight hours only. The explosion killed three workers and injured seven others and the cause of the incident remains unknown.
