The German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that Ukraine has sent a proposal for territorial concessions to American President Donald Trump, in the context of a peace plan to end the War in Ukraine. Merz emphasized that the Ukrainian president and his people must decide on these concessions, warning that forcing an unacceptable peace on the population would be a mistake. During a phone discussion with Trump, Merz mentioned that there were "strong words" exchanged among European leaders, including the British Prime Minister and the French President.

Merz announced that additional discussions with American officials are being planned and a possible international meeting regarding Ukraine could take place soon. He noted that Trump seems open to collaborating with Europeans to address this complex situation.
