Ukraine has granted a consortium of investors, including the mining company TechMet, the right to exploit the Dobra lithium deposit, one of the most promising mineral sites in the country, containing between 80 and 105 million tons of lithium. The auction was launched in the spring, and the decision was made by a government commission, with the government set to officially sign the agreement. TechMet benefits from the support of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, which has increased its chances of winning. Lithium is considered a critical mineral by the U.S., having important applications in green technology. Ukraine is promoting its natural resources as investment opportunities for American companies, in the context of peace negotiations with Western partners and an ambitious plan to attract foreign investments, estimated at 800 billion dollars.
