The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that Ukraine's Defense Forces attacked the oil refinery in Yaroslavl, located about 700 km from the Ukrainian border. This represents a continuation of Kyiv's campaign to target Russian oil facilities to disrupt Moscow's oil industry and reduce the revenues that support war efforts.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that, as of May 21, Ukraine had struck 11 Russian oil facilities, including major refineries like Kirishi. Official data suggests that most refineries in central Russia have been forced to halt or reduce production due to drone attacks. Zelensky emphasized that these actions are part of the strategy to "bring the war home" to Russia, considering them justified in the context of the conflict.
