Ukraine's Supreme Rada has approved that citizens over 60 can sign contracts to serve in the Armed Forces, but only selected specialists.

The decision was announced by MEP Fedir Venislavskiy, and is aimed at attracting specialists needed by the security sector, in particular for the use of old Soviet weapons. Compulsory mobilization will not be applied and service will be based on voluntary consent. Contracts will be signed at a high level to prevent abuses and ensure that those joining the army have the necessary experience.
