The incident occurred after another Turkish ship was damaged near the port of Odesa, following an airstrike. The Ukrainian Navy confirmed that the hit vessel was transporting sunflower oil to Egypt, and all 11 sailors on board escaped unharmed. The attack took place in Ukraine's exclusive economic zone, where air defense could not intervene. Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Russia would intensify reprisals against ships entering Ukrainian ports. In this context, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for a limited ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine to stop attacks on energy and maritime infrastructure.
