The UK government has given the go-ahead to expand London's City Airport with an extra 2.5 million passengers.

The decision, published Monday on the government's website, overturns parts of an earlier decision at the local level but maintains the Saturday afternoon flight ban. The airport wanted to increase its annual capacity to 9 million passengers by 2031, up from 6.5 million currently.
