Tzachi Braverman, the chief of staff of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been detained by the police for questioning in connection with obstructing an investigation related to a leak of classified information to the German tabloid Bild. The police confirmed the detention of a senior advisor from the Prime Minister's Office, and Braverman was interrogated after his residence was searched.
Netanyahu's former spokesperson, Eli Feldstein, stated that Braverman was aware of the secret investigation and attempted to stop it. Following these statements, the police opened an investigation. Braverman was set to be appointed as Israel's ambassador to the United Kingdom, but the opposition leader, Yair Lapid, called for the suspension of this appointment, arguing that it is inappropriate for a suspect of obstruction to represent Israel. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar defended the legality of Braverman's appointment.
