Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, stated that the extradition of the Ukrainian Volodymyr Z., detained for the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines, is not in the interest of his country. Tusk emphasizes that the real issue is the construction of these pipelines, which have increased Europe's dependence on Russian gas. The Polish court has decided to keep the suspect in preventive detention, thus postponing the extradition requested by Germany. The sabotage occurred in September 2022, and investigations are ongoing in Germany, Sweden, and Denmark.
