Turkish authorities detained 32 suspects on Friday, including officials from football clubs, as part of a wide-ranging investigation into match-fixing and illegal betting in Turkey's professional leagues.
The Istanbul Prosecutor's Office announced that the suspects were identified as having connections to betting on their own teams' matches, including those of their opponents. Police conducted operations in 10 provinces to capture the suspects.
Previous investigations led to the suspension of 149 referees and assistants by the Turkish Football Federation, and dozens of individuals, including club presidents and players, have been detained or arrested. Authorities continue to investigate these illegal activities in Turkish football.
