The Turkish amphibious assault ship Anadolu, which participates in NATO military maneuvers in the Baltic Sea, will be deployed on the eastern flank of the Alliance to deter potential threats. Anadolu is equipped with transport and drone launch capabilities and is heading towards the coasts of Latvia.
The ship will be subordinate to NATO's Allied Air Command (AIRCOM). As part of the allied exercise Steadfast Dart, Anadolu has landed troops and equipment near the Putlos maneuver area in northern Germany. This deployment comes in the context of the Eastern Sentry mission, initiated by NATO in September last year, which aims to mobilize additional surveillance and air defense resources in response to violations of airspace by Russian aircraft and drones.
