Turkey has announced the issuance of commemorative coins to celebrate the hosting of the 36th NATO Leaders' Summit, which will take place on July 7, 2026, in Ankara.
These coins are minted based on the bimetallic circulating coin of 5 ₺ and feature the NATO logo, the location of the summit, and a graphic of the Presidential Complex. The mint has already produced an initial batch of 100,000 coins and intends to reach a total production of 500,000. The summit will address critical issues such as support for Ukraine, investments in defense, and the security of the Eastern Flank, with unprecedented security measures taking place in Ankara.
The official opening of the summit will include a press conference by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and plenary sessions at the Beştepe Presidential Complex.
