US President Donald Trump has announced that he will not extend the tariff truce beyond July 9, preferring instead to send letters to countries to set out the tariffs they must pay. In an interview, Trump explained that it is impossible to talk to all 200 countries, so he will send the necessary information in letters. Since his return to power, Trump has raised global tariffs but has partially suspended those measures for trade negotiations, already striking deals with China and the UK.
