Meanwhile, tripartite negotiations have begun between the US, Iran, and the mediator Qatar, taking place in a hotel in Switzerland, aiming for a ceasefire in Lebanon and the curtailment of Iranian assets.

The American delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, described the discussions as 'historic' and emphasized the intention to transform the relationship with the Iranian people.

These negotiations come after a recent agreement between the US and Iran.
