President Trump has said the European Union will pay 35% tariffs if it does not invest the $600 billion promised in a trade deal with the European Commission President. That deal, agreed on July 27, set 15% tariffs on most European products imported into the US, while some products, such as those in the aircraft industry, will be exempt. Trump emphasized the importance of these investments for the US economy and noted that the EU is committed to buying $750 billion worth of US energy products over the next three years.
