Donald Trump said at the White House that he had not discussed the restrictions imposed on the Starlink system in Ukraine with Elon Musk, but that he would contact him if the issue was not resolved. The statement came after Ukrainian officials said the military’s access to the service remained limited.
The U.S. president said he had heard that access had been restored, but added that he would intervene if that information was not confirmed. “If there is a problem, I will fix it,” Trump said, while also rejecting allegations that Musk had too much power over a system essential to Ukrainian military operations.
Starlink, created by SpaceX, is used by Ukrainian forces for communications and to control drones. Five Ukrainian officials said speed restrictions that disrupt connections for drones traveling faster than 160 kilometers per hour remained in place. The measures have been in effect since October 13, amid deteriorating relations between Kyiv and Washington.
Trump and Musk previously had a public dispute, but relations between the two appear to have improved recently.
