According to data from the NGO ACLED, Donald Trump ordered 672 airstrikes in his first year in office, almost as many as his predecessor, Joe Biden, who had 694 strikes throughout his presidency. Over 70% of these attacks in 2025 targeted Yemen, particularly against Houthi rebels, and about 20% were directed against Islamist groups in Somalia. Other affected countries include Nigeria, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. A notable attack occurred on January 3, 2026, targeting Venezuelan defense in the context of the capture of Nicolás Maduro. Of the 672 attacks, 587 were unilateral, without international coalitions, exceeding the number of similar attacks carried out by Biden. These interventions resulted in the deaths of over 1,000 people, including civilians. Clionadh Raleigh, executive director of ACLED, emphasized that the intensification of these operations challenges the idea that a country's power should be limited by international law.
