Donald Trump nominated Lance Schroyer, a former police officer, to lead the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

Donald Trump announced on Saturday the nomination of Lance Schroyer, a former police officer from Oklahoma, to lead the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an agency that has been harshly criticized for the arrests and deportations of migrants.

Trump stated that Schroyer, with extensive experience in incarcerating criminals, will play a key role in his immigration policy, aiming for the arrest and deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Schroyer's nomination must be confirmed by the Senate; however, in the last 11 years, all ICE directors have been appointed on an interim basis. Interior Secretary Markwayne Mullin emphasized the need for a swift approval from the Senate.

ICE is responsible for enforcing the anti-immigration policies promoted by the Trump administration, which have sparked controversy. These intensified after two incidents in Minneapolis, where two American citizens were shot by federal agents.
