President Donald Trump stated that he is seriously considering transforming Venezuela into the 51st American state, following the controversial capture of Nicolas Maduro. This statement was made in an interview with a journalist from Fox News, more than five months after the event. Trump previously mentioned on his Truth Media network that good things are happening in Venezuela, provoking reactions from Venezuelan leaders.

Delcy Rodriguez, the interim president of Venezuela, firmly responded, stating that the idea will never be accepted, emphasizing the love of Venezuelans for national independence. She also mentioned that her government is working on a diplomatic cooperation agenda with the United States, following the restoration of diplomatic relations.
