US President Donald Trump has declared that as of August 1, products imported from the European Union and Mexico will be subject to a 30% tariff. The decision was communicated in letters on social media and comes as the EU hopes for a comprehensive trade deal with the US. Trump also announced tariffs on other countries, including Japan and Canada, as well as a 50% duty on copper products.
