The President of the USA, Donald Trump, is facing difficulties in advancing the reconstruction plan for Gaza, according to sources cited by Reuters, as the Peace Council has received only a small portion of the 17 billion dollars promised by the Arab Gulf states. These promises were intended for the reconstruction of the destroyed Palestinian enclave, following Israeli attacks, but so far the funding has been under one billion dollars, mainly coming from the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and the USA.
In a statement, the Peace Council denied funding issues, claiming that all requests have been met. However, sources within the Council confirmed that the lack of funds and security problems are preventing the entry of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) into the territory. The war in Iran has further complicated the situation, and Hamas has stated that it is willing to hand over governance to the NCAG, led by Ali Shaath.
The reconstruction of Gaza is estimated at around 70 billion dollars, and Trump's plan faces challenges similar to other ambitious initiatives, remaining at an impasse in negotiations with Hamas and Israel.
