President Donald Trump stated that he is convinced that Beijing played a role in persuading Iran to negotiate a ceasefire, according to a statement made during a phone call with the AFP news agency. Trump confirmed information about China's involvement in the appeal made to Tehran, a key ally, to accept a ceasefire. A spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington told CNN that Beijing has made constant efforts to contribute to ending the conflict and emphasized the importance of dialogue to overcome differences. China played a significant role in mediating relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia in 2023, and Chinese leader Xi Jinping proposes to be a mediator in international security. Trump mentioned that the issue of Iran's enriched uranium stocks will be 'perfectly resolved' within the framework of the agreement, adding that he does not care about these stocks, as they can be monitored by satellite. Iran's Supreme Council has accepted a temporary ceasefire of two weeks, and negotiations will continue in Islamabad on April 10. Details regarding when the ceasefire will come into effect remain unclear, while attacks continue in the region.
