The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced that he has canceled airstrikes against Iran, scheduled for Thursday evening, signaling at the same time a possible agreement with the regime in Tehran.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned that discussions with the Iranian leadership have been approved by several countries, including Israel and Saudi Arabia. Although the naval blockade will remain in effect, Trump promised that the date and location of the agreement signing will be announced soon. Iran, on the other hand, stated that it has not approved any text for a memorandum of understanding.
Despite previous threats of harsh attacks, it seems that both parties continue to negotiate the details of a provisional agreement, including the unlocking of frozen Iranian funds. The discussions focus on the gradual release of these funds and the easing of Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz, leaving issues related to the nuclear program for future negotiations.
