In an interview broadcast by Fox Business Network, Donald Trump stated that he wrote a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping, asking him not to supply weapons to Iran. Xi responded that China does not supply Tehran. Trump did not specify the date of the letter exchange, but mentioned that last week he threatened 50% tariffs on countries that collaborate with Iran. Trump also discussed the impact of the war in Iran and the situation in Venezuela on the global oil market, stating that Xi needs oil, while the U.S. does not.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned the permanent opening of the Strait of Hormuz, but the situation remains uncertain, with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards blocking shipments. Trump added that negotiations with Tehran could resume this week, despite the U.S. blockade on maritime trade with Iran.
