Donald Trump stated at the G7 summit in France that he had a constructive meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and urged Russia to accept an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Trump emphasized the huge losses suffered by both sides, mentioning that last month 35,000 soldiers were lost.
"Last month, both sides lost a total of 35,000 soldiers. And that was just in one month. They lost an average of 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, young and beautiful people, and what is happening there is madness," Trump said.
Zelensky mentioned on Monday that he proposed a meeting with Vladimir Putin during the G7 summit, but the Kremlin stated that there was no official invitation for the Russian leader.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized the lack of communication channels between Kiev and Moscow.
