Donald Trump announced a tightening of sanctions against Cuba, considering the island an "extraordinary threat" to the national security of the United States. The sanctions, included in a presidential decree, target foreign banks that collaborate with the Cuban government and impose restrictions on immigration. These measures are intended to intensify pressure on Havana in the context of a severe economic crisis. The announcement coincided with a May Day parade in Cuba, where Cuban leaders, including Raul Castro and Miguel Diaz-Canel, denounced American threats. Despite the tensions, the two countries continue diplomatic negotiations. In the face of economic difficulties, the leader of the workers' union in Cuba stated that the Cuban people resist the restrictions imposed by the U.S. Additionally, Cuban authorities announced the gathering of over 6 million signatures in support of the homeland, but the opposition contests the conditions under which they were obtained.
