On Saturday morning, a train heading towards Delhi hit a group of elephants in the Hojai district of Assam, resulting in the death of seven elephants and the injury of one. The accident occurred in an area that is not considered an elephant corridor, according to the Northeast Frontier Railway. The train driver applied the emergency brakes, but the elephants moved towards the train, causing the collision. The incident, which took place at 2:17, led to the derailment of the locomotive and five carriages, but no casualties were reported among the passengers. Rail traffic has been diverted to an alternative route, and response teams are working to restore the line.
