A tragic accident occurred in Saudi Arabia, involving Indian pilgrims traveling from Mecca to Medina for umrah, a shorter version of the Hajj pilgrimage. The Telangana government has confirmed that a tanker truck was involved, but no further details have been provided. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that he is 'deeply saddened' by the news of the accident and that Indian authorities are collaborating with Saudi officials. The embassy in Riyadh and the consulate in Jeddah are providing assistance to the families of the victims, and control rooms have been established in Jeddah and Hyderabad.

Asaduddin Owaisi, a parliamentarian from Hyderabad, has requested help for the repatriation of the victims' bodies. Of the 54 pilgrims who left from Hyderabad, 46 were traveling by bus, and some of the survivors have begun to provide details about the tragedy.
