A tragic accident occurred in Bangladesh, where a bus carrying approximately 50 people fell into the Padma River during the boarding onto a ferry. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Rajbari district, about 84 kilometers from the capital Dhaka. The bus was heading to the capital from the Kushtia district, in the context of people returning to work after the Islamic festival of Eid al-Fitr.
According to firefighter official Dewan Sohel Rana, many passengers managed to swim to safety, but others remained trapped in the bus. A rescue boat was sent to assist in the recovery operations, and rescue teams worked throughout the night, recovering 18 bodies by Thursday morning. Difficult weather conditions, with strong currents and rain, complicated the rescue operations. Among the victims are 10 women and 2 children, and authorities have not confirmed if there are still missing persons.
