Defense Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the Central Ashanti Region of Ghana. Six others died in the tragedy. The helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, had taken off from Accra and was on its way to the mining town of Obuasi for a national event.
