TikTok will implement a new age verification system in the European Union in the coming weeks, in response to pressure to protect children on the platform. This technology, tested in the EU, analyzes profile information and user behavior to identify accounts that may belong to children under 13 years old. Reported accounts will be reviewed by specialized moderators, instead of being automatically removed. The pilot project in the UK has already led to the removal of thousands of accounts.

In the context of a recent ban in Australia for individuals under 16, European authorities are examining how platforms verify users' ages. TikTok is collaborating with regulatory authorities in Ireland to comply with EU requirements. Discussions in the UK regarding a possible ban on social networks for young people continue, while lawmakers emphasize the importance of protecting children in the online environment.
