On Friday afternoon, three women were attacked with a knife in the Paris metro by a man who initially managed to flee but was later apprehended in Val-d'Oise. The assault took place in three stations on the same metro line, and two of the victims were taken to the hospital, while the third went to the hospital on her own. The alleged perpetrator, a 25-year-old man known to the police for previous offenses, was identified thanks to images from surveillance cameras. An investigation has been opened for attempted murder and armed violence. The prefect of police in Paris praised the rapid response of the intervention services, in the context of an increased terrorist threat, with calls for maximum vigilance ahead of the New Year's celebrations.
