On Sunday, six people were found dead in a freight car in southern Texas, near the border between the USA and Mexico, according to information provided by the American press. The bodies were discovered by an employee of the Union Pacific railroad at a sorting station, and the Laredo Police Department confirmed the incident to The New York Times.
The police spokesperson, Jose Espinoza, stated that it is a very regrettable event, emphasizing that there are far too many lives lost. The temperature in the area where the train stopped reached 32 degrees Celsius on Sunday. This incident comes after, in 2023, two migrants died trapped in a train in Texas, and in 2022, 53 migrants were found dead in an overheated truck. The police continue investigations to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
