Three people on board the cruise ship MV Hondius, affected by an outbreak of hantavirus, will be evacuated in the coming hours, according to the Ministry of Health of Cape Verde. The patients' condition is stable, and the evacuation will be carried out with the help of air ambulances. Once the ship arrives in the Canary Islands, medical teams will examine all passengers and crew members. The World Health Organization has warned that there could be human-to-human transmission among those on board, after three people have died and others have fallen ill. However, health authorities have emphasized that the risk to the general public is low. Nearly 150 people, including American citizens, remain stranded on the ship, and so far seven cases of hantavirus have been identified. A Dutch couple and a German citizen have died, while a British national is in intensive care in South Africa.
